I spent three hours in a darts shop in weert (holland) yesterday as i realy need to get my game sorted and who should i run into but only The Tripod! Roland Scholten!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!! tried a few sets and set up's and with his help i'm now back on the barney darts, had a quick couple of legs with him and must say the feeling was great!!!!! still buzzing now.
i went in there to say "look i keep snatching my darts coz i think i may need someting in the same shape as my unicorn T95's but a little thicker" then i hear "you might want to try the barney phantoms" come from above and behind me. so i look round wich eventualy turned into looking up and there he was The Tripod standing in front of me.
so i told him that i used to throw them in 21g at one point in the past but could never get on with them, he then asked what the setup was then, so i told him shorts shafts and kite or fantail flights. he then set me up with short shafts and standard flights to which the first 3 darts were 140, the second 3 were 174 and the last was 170! never in the life of me have i hit darts like that!!! then tried a few simple check outs being the usual d18, d16 & d10 (favs) and every dart was going in!
now the first thing i though was "how long will this last?" but when he asked me if i had time to throw a few legs i did not even look at my watch and said "Hell Yeah!!!" so we threw a best of 5 game me on 501 and he on 1001. and i must say he is real good, i got myself down to 76 in 10 darts and thought to myself I got him as he was on 164, well let's just say i was WRONG! bish bash bosh 1-0 to him. same again in the second got myself down to a simple finish of 54 and there he sits on shanghai 20's Goodnight! third leg was funniest as neither of us could finish it off. but he eventually took out the double 4 to beat me 3-0. not fussed that i lost.
in summary a bloomin fantastic day and one i'll remember for a long time to come.
just remember one thing: if you feel like going to your local shop and think "nah can't be @rsed" think again coz you never know if a pro could be there at the same time. i thought that before i walked out the door. glad i did go coz i'd have never had the day like this.
