| The BDO without doubt struggle to gain the sponsorship and prize money of the PDC but maybe they are better alone. Lets be fair without the BDO and the county/super league structure there would not be a PDC as the players wouldnt be good enough. Its time to accept that the BDO is there and stop taking without giving back after all almost every player was BDO first and would given the chance go back if the money was there!!!! If the BDO want a media negotiator to build a tour of world class rival tournaments then give me a call, you would soon see the players return when the support and money is put in. |

| It probably is time to put the two together, they could always keep lakeside as a different event say an open or whatever. It's dying a death in the hands of the BBC their coverage is awful and the prize money is pretty low apart from the winner. Maybe new sponsors would be the cure. The biggest problem is that a lot of the BDO guys would drop away as they can't keep up with the pace of the PDC boys. Lakeside is looking tired and dated though. I went to Ally Pally this year on the quietest night (with all the snow) and the atmosphere was still very good, they run a slick operation that appeals to more people, and that's where the sponsors come in. They've broken away from the pub style sponsors and small venues and it's changed the game completely.
I do like the BDO and I know they do a lot more for the game, but without some major changes they will slip away. _________________ Barrels: Unicorn gold purist phase 2 Shafts: Slikstik+ Flights: metronic pear website: www.dartslondon.co.uk Highest score: 180 Dartpro average: 46.08 Favourite double: 16 Years playing: 2 Nickname: The musketeer |

| I would love nothing more than to see darts unified but i voted NO. Why you ask.....well i feel that Hearns offer was nothing more than a publicity stunt to detract from the Lakeside draw. If Hearns offer was a serious one then it would have been done in private, but there was no substance in the offer as was proved by the letters shared between Hearn and Dave Alderman. Theres no doubt that the BDO is stuck in a timewarp and needs to be updated but not in the manner Hearn was suggesting. Another issue would be that Hearn runs things as a business and wants to make a profit for the shareholders, the BDO put their money back into the game hence having a fantastic grass roots system. So if Hearn took over how would that affect the entry fees? Look at the entry fees for the BDO Welsh Open (£10ish) compared to any PDC Open (£100) provided you've paid your £400 annual subs. For many people that is just too much, basically the PDC is for the darting elite, I could go on for hours debating this but i`ll stop now |

| i just think the game is too big for just one organisation .leave things be and if you want to step up a level join the pdc.they will never join forces there are too many people from a certain organisation too pig headed to ever listen to what the other has to say.plus it would be a bit like admitting defeat |

| I feel both are so different. You cant compare what is going on between the two at the moment. From where im standing the PDC wish to have the Elite players. Of which the lower end seem to supply some of the funding to the go the top end. The BDO seem to make darts affordable for all with Mens, Womens, Boys and Girls tournaments up and down the country. Its defiantly darts for all with the BDO no matter what standard. Its down to the individual to choose which circuit you wish to be on when you reach that standard. At the end of the day is always gonna be the one you can afford. The attraction to the PDC in the past has been to get your face on tv easier than it was through the BDO. With less members and more tv opportunities and the prices they were paying in the PDC early days helped its popularity. With the new system on the PDC im not sure it will introduce the new faces the watching public craves.Im sure that the players down the rankings outside the top 96 will be considering their futures there. The BDO system seems to give you a fair chance from what i can see. All rankings start on zero at the end of the ranking year even the World Champion. You need to fill 10 ranking boxes so dont have to travel to all comps around Europe. Your monies are less but your entries are 10 or 12% of the cost of a PDC entry so you dont expect the same return surely. I also dont hear people saying Winmau and Unicorn should join forces to corner the darts sales and production market for darts. No more than calls for Tesco and Asda to join forces. Everyone in darts is catered for as it is now. You want to earn big money head to the PDC and if you want a weekend with darts away with all the family involved all having a throw you go to the BDO. I say leave it as it is with the two governing bodies. It works well. It would be interesting to see of the voters who plays where. |

| I agree with dartsdog, the two orginisations should remain seperate with the BDO catering from the grassroots right up to players like Adams, O'Shea, Fitton and Hankey, the list goes on. Let the PDC carry on with the big money events at the top end of the sport and to provide a bigger challenge and earning potential for up and coming young players. |
